Big Value USA Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

Payment
A non-refundable deposit amount along with the balance of payment for your booking will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. This will appear as two separate transactions. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard and a 1.75% transaction fee applies.

A rental voucher will be sent to the provided email address directly by the operator of Big Value on confirmation of your booking. Please note that additional terms and conditions will also be supplied at this time. You must present your rental voucher on arrival to collect your vehicle.

Cancellation and 'No Show'
Cancellation and 'no show' fees may apply up to 100% of the value of the rental (for cancellations made within 72 hours of pick up date, or for no shows, then the charge is normally 100%). Should you wish to cancel, please ensure you contact the booking agency directly to action this and note that until you recieve confirmation in writing that your booking has been cancelled within the time-frame required, fees may still apply.

As the terms and conditions for this supplier vary from region to region we are unable to publish them in full on this site. They will however be available on the rental agreement that you will receive when you pick up the vehicle.

The below are a guideline only.

Flight Information
For all airport pick ups, it is imperative that the correct outbound flight number and estimated arrival time is advised at time of booking. If the correct flight information is not provided no responsibility can be accepted or compensation allowed for a failed rental.

Out of Hours Charges
In some cases arrangements can be made for the vehicle to be available at the airport even outside working hours. However, in some cases, this will attract an 'out of hours' charge. Please also note that should the flight be delayed, causing collection of the rental to fall within 'out of hours' times, this charge will also apply. Responsibility will not be accepted where there is no out of hours service available.

Deposits & Petrol
A deposit, which varies by destination, to cover the insurance excess, petrol in the car and other charges incurred during the hire such as speeding or parking fines may be required. A valid major credit card must be used in most locations and must be in the name of the lead driver. Debit cards are NOT widely accepted. Cars are normally supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. However this depends per location, your rental agreement will provide information relating to petrol charges for the specific hire.

Drivers Age
A minimum and maximum drivers' age applies to all bookings this will vary by location.

Additional Drivers
Charges may apply for additional drivers in certain locations, payable locally. All additional drivers must produce their driving licence to the supplier before they drive the vehicle otherwise the insurance will become invalid.

Period Of Hire/Daily Rate Calculation
In most destinations, the minimum period of hire is 3 consecutive days, however shorter durations may be available in some locations. Hire periods are calculated on a 24 hour basis. After collection of the car, extensions of the hire period will be charged by the car hire company at the local daily rate (which may be considerably higher). Please note that missed return deadlines will be charged locally. Please note that no refunds will be made for vehicles returned early.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
This optional insurance may be covered by your own holiday insurance. If you require PAI however, this can in most cases be taken out locally on collection of the hire car for an additional fee.

Local Charges
The costs and conditions of all incidental items such as the special requests and extra drivers are subject to local tax. Not included in the cost of the hire. Petrol, personal accident insurance, special request items and where applicable young driver surcharges and additional driver charges. All costs payable locally. Please note that there are some insurance exclusions.

Documentation
You must have the pre-paid car hire voucher to collect your rental vehicle. No refunds will be given for failed hires due to lack of a voucher or of non-production of the pre-paid voucher. Please retain all rental documentation for 28 days after returning home.

Driving Licence
Drivers must produce a full driving license written in the English alphabet and held for at least two years. Our reservations staff should be informed at the time of booking of any endorsements on the driver's license as in some cases, hire will not be possible with certain types of endorsements. No refunds will be given for rentals aborted due to non-production of any driving license or non-disclosed endorsements. Faxed or photocopied licenses are not acceptable. Non EU licence holders should check with the embassy of the particular country they are travelling to as some may require the driver to have an International Driving Permit or other special documentation. US and Canadian licence holders cannot rent vehicles in the US and Canada.

Vehicle Type / Suitability
Particular models or makes of vehicles are not guaranteed. The vehicle on the car hire voucher is for guidance only and we reserve the right to substitute it with another similar vehicle.

Mechanical difficulties/Accidents
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accident involving your rental vehicle, it is imperative that details are reported to the local car hire company straight away. The local police should also be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of any third parties involved must also be obtained. Authority to repair or replace a vehicle must be obtained from the local car hire company supplying their vehicle and whose name and address appears on the voucher and rental agreement. They should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event that an insurance company becomes involved. Compensation cannot be considered when this procedure is not followed correctly.
If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the vehicle upon collection or during the rental (and not upon completion), this must be reported to the car hire company immediately.

Provision of Vehicles
Please be aware that the supplier can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such cases, the contract becomes void and no further liability is accepted.

Driving Restrictions
Restrictions may be applicable when crossing country or state borders. Charges may sometimes apply for additional insurance and if so these are payable locally.

Number of passengers
Passengers per vehicle must not exceed the limit to which the vehicle is registered.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
In case of theft, accident, or damage to the vehicle, whatever the extent of damage, driver must give a written statement to the supplier, otherwise he is considered totally responsible for the damage.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
